Description:
The role involves providing care for patients in an immediate care setting.
The unit sees a variety of patients including those with hematology, oncology, and sickle cell issues.
Patients present with urgent and non-urgent conditions but are generally more stable than those in emergency departments.
Most patients will be discharged home, while some may be admitted for further treatment.
Nurses will develop numerous skills and create strong relationships with patients in this supportive environment.
The unit operates 24/7 and is staffed by a team of advanced practice providers and nurses.
Travelers will be required to float between immediate care and emergency department units as needed.
Candidates should possess experience in managing multiple patient conditions, including but not limited to sickle cell crisis, uncontrolled pain, and dehydration.
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support is available, including services such as IV therapy and physical therapy.
A focus on strong communication and teamwork is essential in delivering timely evaluation and treatment.
