Job SummaryThe Rehabilitation Team Member (Physical Therapy Resident) works in a team‑oriented multidisciplinary outpatient rehabilitation program focusing on the neurologic and orthopedic needs of patients. The role is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and direct supervision of the clinic manager. The resident evaluates and treats patients following Ohio state laws and regulations, collaborates with the team to establish care plans, provides diverse treatment techniques, educates families and facilitates ongoing care planning, and participates in outcome management activities.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and treat patients in accordance with state licensing laws and professional standards.
- Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide a variety of therapeutic treatment techniques and educate patients and families.
- Facilitate transition and continuing care planning.
- Participate in quality and outcomes management activities.
- Supervise and mentor Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers, rehabilitation aides, student medical assistants, interns, and volunteers as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nurses, psychologists, clerical staff, administrators, and referral sources.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist or Athlete Training Board licensed professional in the State of Ohio.
- Academic degree from an accredited institution.
- Knowledge of and compliance with Ohio state laws governing physical therapy practice.
- Communicate clearly with team members, patients, and families.
- Maintain focus and concentration on multiple concurrent tasks.
- Maintain appropriate visual focus, depth perception, and visual field necessary for patient treatment and safety.
- Respond rapidly to emergency signals and indicators.
- Frequent lifting of weights up to 80+ lbs (e.g., transferring patients).
- Frequent pushing/pulling of loads up to 80+ lbs (e.g., moving wheelchair).
- Frequent stair or ramp navigation with patients.
- Frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, or standing during patient treatment.
- Carry items up to 20 lbs.
- Seize, grasp, and hold onto objects or patients.
- Maintain balance to prevent falls.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation.
