What You'll Do:
The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is seeking a highly analytical and mission-driven Epidemiology Investigator 3 to join the Center for Public Health Excellence.
Duties include:
Lead and conduct advanced epidemiologic research and data analysis related to chronic disease, healthcare access, and public health priorities.
Design research methodologies, surveys, and data collection tools.
Analyze complex datasets using statistical software (e.g., SAS, Tableau, Epi-Info).
Develop reports, dashboards, maps, and data visualizations to communicate findings.
Monitor health trends and identify emerging issues impacting communities.
Support program evaluation, policy analysis, and grant reporting requirements.
Ensure data quality control and confidentiality compliance.
Provide technical guidance on data collection methods and statistical interpretation.
Respond to internal and external data requests and present findings to stakeholders.
Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 33, Step 1 of the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule ($33.52 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($35.15) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Position QualificationsCompletion of graduate core program in public health or preventive medicine; 3 courses or 9 months experience in use of statistical computer software packages; 6 months experience as epidemiology investigator with local or federal health agency; must be able to provide own transportation.
OR
6 months experience as Epidemiology Investigator 2, 65762; must be able to provide own transportation.
OR
Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

- Graduate or advanced degree in public health or preventive medicine
- Coursework in epidemiology, biostatistics, mathematics
- Experience using statistical/analytic software (e.g., SAS, REDCap, R, Tableau, ArcGIS)
- Experience in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting health-related data
- Experience developing analytic reports and presentations
- Experience in survey design and analysis
- Experience in program evaluation
- Experience using data to develop and implement public health programs and policies
- Experience coordinating and leading data discussions with internal and external stakeholders
