As the Food Services Director, you are responsible for the management, supervision, and direction of the food service staff and program within the facility. In addition, you will manage the dining services budget, plan and prepare appealing, nutritious, heart‑healthy, tasteful, fresh food for residents and guests, and coordinate and ensure the satisfactory and timely completion of project and program work done in the building on varying shifts.
You will maintain records of income, expenditures, supplies, personnel, and equipment; conduct periodic inventories; train new employees; recommend dismissals; and act as liaison between building occupants or administrators and Yona Solutions staff. You will communicate effectively all directives from managers, building occupants, and administrators to Yona Solutions staff. You must also be able to perform the job assignments of the Cook, Dietary Aide, and Dishwasher, and take charge of training, quality control, and in‑servicing staff.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Interview, hire, and orient dishwashers, cooks, and dietary aides.
- Communicate between shifts to ensure completion of tasks.
- Maintain proper staffing levels; schedule all dietary staff.
- Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the work of all dietary employees, delegating work equally.
- Train workers in cooking, dishwashing, and dietary aide methods and procedures and proper operation of equipment.
- Issue kitchen supplies and equipment to workers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
- Audit daily assignments, directives, and projects to ensure task completion.
- Cross‑train and develop personnel for multiple positions/duties.
- Conduct planning and budgeting.
- Manage a cost‑effective dietary program.
- Plan and implement a menu cycle that will be well received by residents and feature seasonal menu items.
- Maintain good communication with all vendors.
- Support all catering, room service, special party needs, and marketing functions.
- Forecast and plan the purchase of kitchen and dining hall cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Maintain required records including inventory, compliance, income/expense, and personnel records.
- Ensure that established sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
- Interact appropriately with residents, clients, other personnel, the District Manager, and the public.
- Respond to customer preferences, comply with industry and federal and state guidelines, and meet the needs of residents.
- Respond to the paging system in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Perform the job assignments of the dishwasher, cook, and dietary aide as necessary.
- Recognize hazards and follow appropriate protective equipment measures, read and understand Safety Data Sheets, and communicate/train employees accordingly.
- Represent Yona Solutions in a positive manner; follow oral instructions, be pleasant, tactful, courteous, and cooperative with supervisors, co‑workers, residents, and client staff.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Two years’ experience in dietary services in a healthcare environment and personnel supervision preferred.
- Attendance and punctuality:
Must arrive on time, cover all shifts, and meet all attendance standards. - Language ability:
Must read, write, and speak English effectively and follow oral and written instructions. - Reasoning ability:
Apply common sense to recognize hazards, follow protective equipment measures, read Safety Data Sheets, and communicate with coworkers. - Hygiene:
Must maintain personal cleanliness. - Customer and personal service:
Must be pleasant, tactful, and courteous. - Interpersonal:
Ability to cooperate with other employees. - Quality management:
Accomplish responsibilities without supervision or additional assistance after the training period. - Dependability:

Treat others with respect and consideration, and accept responsibility for own actions. - Complete all in‑service trainings.
- Provide a criminal background check.
Must be able to fully understand and complete all in‑services, and be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
