The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a full-time health psychologist (or related subspecialty) to join the Department of Neurology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.
Position OverviewAt OSUWMC, we are committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care. Patients come to the Department of Neurology at OSUWMC for treatments and services they cannot find elsewhere. The department has a diverse cadre of faculty and staff who work together toward the tripartite mission of patient care, education, and research. We seek to hire a health psychologist to join our multidisciplinary department.
Applicants with experience providing psychotherapy to patients with neurological conditions and/or chronic pain will be particularly competitive, but a general background in treating depression, anxiety, and adjustment to disease burden would also be appropriate.
The psychologist selected for this position will join a rapidly growing inter‑professional department of over 80 faculty, which includes a team of psychologists within the recently developed Neuropsychology Division. We also have a large number of advanced practice providers and social workers. Our providers work together to diagnose and treat a wide range of rare and common neurological diseases.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesThis position emphasizes evidence‑based psychological interventions for adults with chronic medical and neurological conditions (e.g., epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, chronic headaches/dizziness). Adjustment to disease burden is a common treatment focus. Psychoeducation regarding the associations among thoughts, feelings, and worsening physical experiences is another relevant topic. Opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in transdisciplinary clinics and to contribute to education and scholarly activities are strongly encouraged.
Faculty rank is dependent on the candidate’s qualifications.
- Applicants must have a doctorate degree in Psychology from an APA‑ or CPA‑accredited clinical program (with an accredited clinical internship).
- Completion of a 1‑2 year post‑doctoral fellowship in health psychology and eligibility for board certification in health, clinical, or rehabilitation psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology are required.
- A track record of interprofessional collaborative research efforts is preferred.
