What You’ll Do:
The Bureau of Maternal, Child and Family Health is looking to fill a Public Health Consultant position to work with schools, healthcare providers and community partners to support school-based health programs.
Duties include:
- Support the development and implementation of school-based health programs across Ohio.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to schools, health departments, and community partners.
- Assist with planning, evaluating, and improving public health programs.
- Help coordinate and deliver training and health education for partners and communities.
- Participate in meetings, site visits and public health events.
- Assist with grant application reviews and monitor program spending and budgets.
- Review invoices and contracts related to funded projects.
- Support grant review and funding recommendation process.
Collaboration:
- Work with state agencies, local health departments, schools, and healthcare providers.
- Coordinate meetings and collaborate with partners to strengthen community health initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison to help ensure programs are implemented effectively.
- Track program goals and maintain records and reports in grant management systems.
- Collect and analyze program data to support decision making and program improvements.
- Assist with preparing reports, fact sheets, and other program documentation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires travel.
PositionQualifications:
6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
AND completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field AND must be able to provide own transportation.
Or
18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting (e.g., program evaluations, working with grants, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating, working collaboratively with coalitions or groups)
AND completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field AND must be able to provide own transportation.
Or
Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Additional Qualifications:- Graduate or advanced degree in public health, health care or health administration.
- Experience writing grants and monitoring grant activities and program outcomes.
- Experience working in adolescent health.
- Experience facilitating a committee and/or coalition.
- Experience developing and presenting training and/or public speaking.
- Experience working with local health departments/school-based health centers and/or other healthcare agencies.
- Experience with computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Teams).
- Experience using data to evaluate adolescent health activities.
