Position Summary

The Public Health Consultant serves as the statewide coordinator for the Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review (PAMR) within the Bureau of Maternal and Early Childhood Services. The position leads PAMR committee operations, provides consultation to health and social service partners, manages statewide PAMR processes, supports maternal mortality prevention strategies, and contributes to development of policies, training, and public health education to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.

PAMR

Coordination & Committee Management
  • Serve as the primary statewide contact and facilitator for the PAMR committee.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate committee meetings; prepare agendas, distribute materials, take notes, and maintain records.
  • Manage committee membership, recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Coordinate facilitator training and evaluation of training components using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Act as liaison to governmental, professional, community, and advocacy organizations regarding PAMR initiatives.
Public Health Consultation & Technical Assistance
  • Provide technical assistance to local health departments, medical providers, social service agencies, and partner organizations on PAMR processes and maternal mortality review.
  • Support the Ohio Council to Advance Maternal Health (OH CAMH).
  • Interpret guidelines, policies, and requirements for bureau staff and stakeholders.
Data Management, Analysis & Reporting
  • Collect, analyze, and report maternal mortality and related program data.
  • Coordinate and fulfill all federal grant reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate MOUs and data-sharing agreements.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations summarizing trends, risk factors, and prevention strategies.
  • Support surveillance activities and maintain documentation of cases, records requests, abstraction, and review processes.
  • Maintain PAMR webpages.
Pay Information

Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be step 1 of the salary range associated with this position. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Based on collective bargaining and legislative activity, there may be cost of living increases awarded annually. Additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. The current wage progression for this position is in the table below.

Qualifications
  • 6 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting, to include exp. in program evaluation, grant review, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating &/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups; completion of graduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field; must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Or 18 mos. exp. in providing direct service &/or consultation in a public health, community health, hospital &/or clinic setting, to include exp. in program evaluation, grant review, developing & presenting training programs & in facilitating &/or working collaboratively with coalitions or groups; completion of undergraduate core coursework in public health, health care, health administration or related field; must be able to provide own transportation.
