Dosimetrist
The Medical Dosimetrist functions as an integral member of the Department of Radiation Medicine (or its outreach/affiliates) of the Medical Center. The team provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes through the integrated skills of all team members in the Department. The Medical Dosimetrist, as a member of the team, is thoroughly familiar with geometric characteristics of the radiation equipment, radioactive sources commonly employed, and has the training and expertise necessary to generate radiation dose distributions and calculations under the direction of the radiation therapy physicist.
Operates and performs quality assurance on the treatment planning computer.
The Medical Dosimetrist in the Department of Radiation Medicine is a member of the treatment planning team who measures and generates radiation dose distributions and performs dose calculations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic, Physical or Biologic Science or related field of study or 2 years of relevant work experience. Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board Certified within 2 years of hire. No medical dosimetry experience required if eligible to sit for Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board exam.
