Overview
0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week (three 12‑hour shifts). Day shift, every other weekend. Offers up to $7000 sign‑on bonus. Competitive benefits and pay based on experience. Accepting experienced and new‑graduate Respiratory Therapists.
Job DescriptionSpecializes in the promotion of optimum cardiopulmonary function and health. Applies scientific principles to prevent, identify, and treat acute or chronic dysfunction of the cardiopulmonary system, ensuring best patient outcomes. Authorized to access unit medication rooms and bedside medication drawers for administering authorized medications.
Essential Functions- Applies knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology and pathophysiology, biomedical engineering, and technology.
- Provides effective preventative care and assesses, educates, and treats patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
- Practices respiratory care under medical direction across the healthcare continuum.
- Develops and implements effective care plans, patient‑driven protocols, disease‑based clinical pathways, and disease‑management programs according to evidence‑based guidelines.
- Delivers respiratory care using a family‑centered approach.
- Assesses individualized patient needs and communicates them to the care team.
- Participates in interdisciplinary care, data collection, quality improvement, and represents staff at meetings, reporting information and updates.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from a CoARC‑accredited Respiratory Care program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Current Ohio license to practice respiratory care.
- AHA BLS.
- Current PALS or NRP certification may be required depending on unit of hire.
- Additional certifications may be required after hire.
- Critical thinking and patient/environment assessment skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with patients, parents, and hospital staff.
- Occasionally: lift 21‑40 lbs, 41‑60 lbs, 61‑100 lbs; push/pull 0‑25 lbs, 26‑40 lbs, 41‑60 lbs, 61‑100 lbs; 100+ lbs with assistance; flex neck; lift/carry 0‑10 lbs, 11‑20 lbs; handle patient equipment.
- Frequently: blood and bodily fluids; communicable diseases; chemical exposure; computer skills; repetitive hand/arm use; standing; walking.
- Continuously: audible speech; color vision; decision making; depth perception; hearing acuity; data interpretation; peripheral vision; problem solving; vision far/near.
