Job Description Summary

Our Grant oncology care site is hiring for a day shift, full-time medical assistant to work with our oncology population. Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent AND one of the following:
  • Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting
  • Completion of Military Medic training
  • Certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P)
  • At least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting

High School or GED (Required). BLS – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow, including preparing patients for visits and providing services as directed by providers in accordance with policy and scope of practice.
  • Complete Care Connect EMR documentation skills.
  • Perform mandatory administrative duties ensuring all information is current and updated, including maintenance and monitoring of EMR.
  • Maintain and clean the environment, work area, and equipment; report any malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate with patients and customers respectfully and compassionately.
  • Collaborate with the health care team to ensure continuity and quality of care and coordination of services.
  • Collect and monitor patient data; report patient data and patient needs as directed.
  • Adhere to documentation guidelines around patient chargeable items/services.
  • Continuously monitor processes and services for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Engage in process and quality improvement activities; make and implement recommendations to improve operational efficiency and implement new services.
  • Engage in continuous study of the professional field, including best practices, to maintain competence, knowledge, and skills.
  • Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
  • Promote and advocate for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives; act as a role model.
  • Serve as SME/resource to the department/unit/practice in areas such as quality, performance improvement, and EMR (e.g., EPIC Super User).
  • Oversee efficient patient flow, including preparation for visits/admissions and providing education as determined by providers.
  • Lead and support development of standard work and necessary customizations.
  • Act as a clinical preceptor and train new staff.
  • Ensure compliance with scope of practice and High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles of safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Adapt to changes in job profile and responsibilities as the role evolves.
