Position: Telemetry Tech- Cardiac Step-down

Job Description Summary

Monitors and records data from medical equipment to ensure proper functioning and patient safety. Responsible for equipment maintenance.

Overview

Night shift

24 - 36 hours per week

Essential Functions
  • Maintain appropriate heart rhythm tracing.
  • Recognize normal heart rhythm, artifact, and life‑threatening heart rhythms.
  • Respond to all monitor alarms and report heart rhythm changes to RN or MD promptly.
  • Clean, maintain, and inventory all equipment associated with cardiac monitors and other equipment as assigned.
  • Precept new employees and educate other employees on correct usage of both telemetry and bedside monitors.
Education Requirement

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement

Certifications

Current CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider), required.

Skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to identify abnormal rhythms and/or changes in rhythms preferred.
Experience

Previous health care experience as a Nursing Assistant, Unit Coordinator, Medical Assistant, nursing student, EMT, Medic, or experience with cardiology patients, required.

Physical Requirements

Occasionally: Computer skills, decision making; lifting/carrying 0–10 lbs, 11–20 lbs, 21–40 lbs; loud noises; machinery; patient equipment; problem solving; standing; walking.
