Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 6:30pm.
Job Description SummaryCollects, processes, and stores biological specimens for laboratory testing and research purposes. Does not perform hypothesis-based research or analysis on the biospecimens – serves as a supporting role to facilitate research.
Essential Functions- Collects, processes, and stores biological specimens according to established protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Maintains accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and storage.
- Ensures that specimens are properly labeled and tracked throughout the collection and storage process.
- Performs quality control checks on specimens to ensure that they meet established standards.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, and orders new supplies as needed.
- Communicates with other laboratory staff and researchers to ensure that specimens are collected and processed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Bachelor's of Science or equivalent certification and experience, required.
- Coursework in anatomy, physiology, statistics, and relevant research methods, preferred.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer experience.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to change manner of communication styles to adapt to various cultural and work-style differences.
- Ability to maintain and foster interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work efficiently independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to adjust to change, handle interruptions, and function with changing circumstances.
Two years of laboratory research experience or equivalent, required.
Physical RequirementsOCCASIONALLY: Bend/twist, Climb stairs/ladder, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 26-40 lbs
FREQUENTLY: Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Standing, Walking
