Direct Support Professional - Group Employment

ARC Voyagers is a nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Central Ohio. We provide person-centered services to help people achieve greater independence, connection, and opportunity. This role supports individuals in group employment settings and helps them develop workplace and daily living skills.

Location: Various sites in and around Columbus, OH

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm

Hourly Wage: $18.00 per hour

What You’ll Do and Why it Matters:

  • Supporting Skill Development: Personalize communication and task-training to match each participant’s learning style and needs.
  • Encouraging Growth & Independence: Help participants improve work and life skills and progress toward personal goals.
  • Providing Hands-On Job Support: Assist with cleaning contract duties and safely use work supplies and equipment.
  • Coaching for Success: Teach hard and soft skills in real-world work settings to build confidence and independence.
  • Supporting Daily Living Needs: Assist with health maintenance, personal hygiene, and daily activities as needed.
  • Ensuring Quality & Compliance: Document services and help maintain CMS, DODD, OOD, and CARF standards.
  • Creating Safe Environments: Contribute to a safe, healthy, and supportive work environment.
  • Making a Meaningful Impact: Help participants gain confidence and independence daily.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 18+ years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Positive, patient, and encouraging with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable teaching, coaching, and supporting individuals with diverse needs
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly in an active environment
  • Passionate about helping others grow and succeed
  • Willingness to provide hands-on support in employment and personal care settings
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required
  • Professional, dependable, and committed to making a difference daily

Requirements:

  • Must submit to BCII/FBI background checks and Nurses Aide & Abuser Registry checks
  • Maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and CPR certification
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and insurability standards
  • Complete eight hours of training as required by The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities upon hire
  • Must pass a drug screen
