Position: Perioperative Technician-Anesthesiology (Evenings)

Overview

Schedule:

Evenings (2p-10:30p), M-F, 40 hrs/week with on-call, weekend, and holiday call responsibilities. Assists anesthesia team by creating all IVs and IV setups. Previous IV experience helpful. Sets up offsite anesthesia cases by transporting gas machines and Pyxis back stands. Team-structured work environment with high amounts of collaboration required. Responds effectively and efficiently to life‑threatening situations.

Job Description Summary

Performs a variety of technical and supportive tasks to assist daily clinical operations. Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares operating rooms for surgery by assisting with equipment and supply needs, setup, and routine maintenance.
  • Assists OR team with room turnover, patient beds, and transportation of case carts.
  • Maintains inventory of relevant surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Transports patients, labs, gross specimens, and blood, as necessary.
Education and Certifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, required. BLS Certification, preferred.

Skills and Experience
  • Basic understanding of mechanical equipment.
  • Self‑starter who requires little or no supervision.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to life‑threatening situations.
  • Effective multitasking, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain or materials management.
  • Working knowledge of surgical and anesthesia procedures.
  • Previous health care experience, preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally: Biohazard waste, Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Climb stairs/ladder, Flexing/extending of neck, Interpreting Data, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Lifting / Carrying: 11-20 lbs, Loud Noises, Patient Equipment, Power Tools, Problem solving, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Reaching above shoulder, Sitting, Squat/kneel.
  • Frequently: Bend/twist, Fume /Gases /Vapors, Machinery.
  • Continuously: Audible speech, Computer skills, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Hearing acuity, Peripheral vision, Repetitive hand/arm use, Seeing – Far/near, Standing, Walking.
