Telemetry Tech- Cardiac Step-down

Overview

Night shift 24 - 36 hrs per week.

Monitors and records data from medical equipment to ensure proper functioning and patient safety. Responsible for equipment maintenance.

• Maintain appropriate heart rhythm tracing.
• Recognize normal heart rhythm, artifact, and life threatening heart rhythms.
• Respond to all monitor alarms, report heart rhythm changes to RN or MD promptly.
• Clean, maintain, and inventory all equipment associated with cardiac monitors and other equipment as assigned.
• Precept new employees, ability to educate other employees on correct usage of both telemetry and bedside monitors.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
• Licensure: not specified.
• Certifications:
  
  Current CPR certification (BLS-Health Care Provider), required.
• Skills:
  
  Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to identify abnormal rhythms and/or changes in rhythms preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Previous health care experience as a Nursing Assistant, Unit Coordinator, Medical Assistant, nursing student, EMT, Medic or experience with cardiology patients, required.
