Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Night shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and assisting with patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, while operating within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. The therapist evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, ensuring that patients understand the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment. Education is also provided to patients prior to discharge.

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment (both invasive and non-invasive), oxygen delivery systems, and nebulizer devices for medication administration.
• Administer chest physiotherapy and facilitate secretion clearance through various equipment.
• Perform suctioning techniques including oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography as per policy.
• Review and interpret chest x-rays to determine the need for further evaluation.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in respiratory-related procedures.
• Manage tracheostomy care and assist in the insertion/removal of tracheostomy tubes as needed.
• Execute arterial punctures and evaluate ventilation efficiency while recording and reporting results.
• Perform routine and emergency airway management including endotracheal tube insertion/removal using both free hand and video laryngoscope techniques.
• Ensure proper maintenance of ventilatory equipment and assist in preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Document all treatment information, patient responses, and coordinate necessary information with healthcare teams during shift change.

Current Respiratory Care certification and state licensure as required.
