Job Title: Instrumentation Coordinator

Department: Ambulatory Services | OCNA Central Sterile Processing

Position Summary

The Instrumentation Coordinator oversees the coordination of daily activities between the Operating Room (OR) and Central Sterile Processing to ensure efficient surgical case flow. This includes cart assembly, decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and high‑level disinfection. The role is also responsible for assisting with projects, process improvements, and fostering effective communication between the OR and multiple sterile processing departments across the Health System.

The Instrumentation Coordinator builds case carts according to surgeon preference cards and ensures all required surgical instruments are available and properly maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily activities between OR and Central Sterile Processing to ensure efficient surgical case flow.
  • Assemble, decontaminate, prepare, sterilize, and high‑level disinfect surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Build case carts according to surgeon preference cards.
  • Assist with projects and process improvements across the Health System.
  • Foster effective communication between OR and multiple sterile processing departments.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in sterile processing or as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Certification:
    Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
