Responsibilities
The Anesthesia Technician works under the supervision of the Manager, Anesthesia Services and performs a variety of anesthesia equipment and supply related tasks. Provides diagnostic and treatment services during regular recurring critical care situations, setting up, checking, inspecting, maintaining and calibrating anesthesia equipment. Performs various anesthesia‑specialized treatment procedures that significantly affect the accuracy and reliability of subsequent processes associated with the patient’s anesthetic course.
The team reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect, consisting of registered nurses, surgical technologists, anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and surgeons. The Technician provides coordination of anesthesia and auto‑transfusion services, including technical and logistical support to physicians and hospital staff for surgical procedures. The Technician follows all safety standards for patients, staff, and self, maintains clean and organized work areas, and demonstrates a positive, collaborative attitude while being respectful to patients, families, and staff.
Minimum education required: high school graduate or G.E.D.; 3 months of patient care experience or equivalent; 3 months working with medical equipment or equivalent. A Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cert. A.T.) is preferred but not required if accompanied by 2–3 years of equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include experience in anesthesia equipment management; ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
ability to write routine reports and correspondence; and proficiency with arithmetic across units of measure.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
