Scope of Position
The Instrumentation Coordinator prepares, sterilizes, installs, assembles, and cleans all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The role ensures equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely, preventing infections. It packages and delivers sterilized instrumentation to point of use aseptically and serves as a clinical liaison between Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise.
The Coordinator is responsible for procuring and standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise and will be utilized 24/7 in multiple reprocessing sites, including Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East, and all Ambulatory sites.
Position SummaryCoordinate and oversee daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow through case cart assembly, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization/high-level disinfection of all reprocessed surgical inventory. Assist in projects and process improvement, promote customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with Operating Room clinical operations and multiple sterile processing departments. Also responsible for ordering, procuring, and organizing instrument trays on a global level to service the entire Enterprise.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma or GED.
- Certification or vocational training preferred.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) issued through The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) required upon hire or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience required.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
