Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide patient support services
- Answer phones, direct calls, and relay messages or scripted care directions
- Greet, register, and check in patients and visitors
- Update patient demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system
- Maintain patient medical records via EMR or paper charts
- Assist with patient scheduling and schedule appointments when directed
- Respond to patient and staff inquiries and communicate with referring physician offices
- Perform check-out processes, including co-pay collections, return-visit scheduling, after-visit summaries, and follow-up test coordination
- Monitor patient wait times and notify appropriate clinic personnel of excessive waits
- Open and route incoming mail; distribute correspondence, reports, and office supplies
- Mail form letters and track patient information or program data
- Request and handle referrals and medical records from referring offices
- Maintain cash drawer, reconcile daily cash, and prepare bank deposits where assigned
- Contact insurance companies and obtain registration or procedural pre-certifications as assigned
- Complete other duties or special projects as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of customer service experience
- Skill in problem solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service
- Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems
- Attendance and promptness
- Professionalism and attention to detail
- Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors
- Politeness to customers, vendors, and patients
- Travel may be required to accommodate staffing levels at other clinical facilities
