- Coordinate and provide patient support services
- Answer phones, direct calls, greet patients and visitors
- Register and check in patients
- Update patient demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system
- Maintain patient medical records via EMR or paper charts
- Take and relay messages or scripted care directions
- Respond to patient and staff inquiries and communicate with referring physician offices
- Perform check-out processes, including co-pay collections, scheduling return visits, providing after-visit summaries, and ensuring follow-up tests are ordered or scheduled
- Monitor patient wait times and notify appropriate staff of excessive waits
- Open and route incoming mail; distribute correspondence, reports, and office supplies
- Track and record patient information or program data
- Request and handle referrals and medical records from referring offices
- Schedule appointments when directed
- Maintain cash drawer, reconcile daily cash, and prepare bank deposits where assigned
- Contact insurance companies and obtain registration or procedural pre-certifications where assigned
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of customer service experience
- Skill in problem solving and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations while providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems
- Ability to travel to other clinical facilities as required to accommodate staffing levels
Demonstrates strong patient support capabilities, including effective communication, problem-solving, and proficiency in managing patient information and scheduling. Exhibits exceptional customer service skills while handling sensitive situations and maintaining confidentiality.
