Description

Provides advanced life support in a prompt, resourceful, and efficient manner to all patients transported by Med Flight regardless of the mode of transport.(Rotor Wing or MICU) Collaborates with Nurse in compliance with established protocol and regulatory requirements to provide support services and transport. Responsible for maintaining compliance with CAMTS requirements and all associated documentation. Actively participates in external education / marketing initiatives in order to protect and maintain Med Flight’s market base.

New partners seeking to work on our Rotor Wing team must participate in a dual-role schedule, which includes both Rotor Wing shifts and MICU shifts at our Columbus base. Partners who choose to work exclusively in the MICU are not required to work Rotor Wing shifts.

• Friday, Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 p.m.

  - 7:00 p.m. $2.00 per hour

• Three (3) years active experience as Paramedic in an active EMS Department and/or Paramedic role.
• Certifications and licensures required upon hire and throughout employment:
• Current Ohio certification as a Paramedic. (Additional state licensures may be required depending on the location of the Med Flight Region).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Valid Driver’s License and maintenance of an acceptable driving record as determined by insurance carrier for coverage.
• Airway Management: Proficiency in advanced airway techniques preferred.
• Medical Transport: Expert knowledge of emergency transport procedures and environmental applications.
• Patient Care: Ability to assess needs, formulate/alter treatment plans, and prioritize requests.
• Logistics: Skill in safe patient transport and efficient resource management.
• Patient Handling: Ability to load/unload patients on cots up to 300+ lbs; maintain cot stability and horizontal positioning.
• Mobility: Capacity to bend, stoop, and carry equipment over rough terrain with full range of motion.
• Endurance: Ability to sit and drive for extended periods while maintaining constant alertness.
• Stress Management: Effectively manages high-stress, unpredictable situations and uncontrolled environments.
• Environmental Exposure: Operates in extreme weather (heat, ice, rain), high altitudes, and rugged terrain.

  Communicates effectively with staff and the public under pressure; acts as a Med Care representative.
• Operational Readiness: Maintains competency across all assigned and alternate transport modes.

• Training required upon successful completion of orientation, and annually throughout employment:
• Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
• Rotor Wing Safety (if in the RW Division)

• Certifications required within six (6) months of hire and throughout employment:
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS)

• Certifications required within twelve (12) months of hire and throughout employment:
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
• PHTLS and TNCC also accepted trauma certifications
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

• Certifications required within twenty-four (24) months of hire and throughout employment:
• Advanced Practice Certification: FP-C, CCP-C
• Paramedics must maintain all other licensures as deemed necessary by management.
