Job Description SummaryThe Night Auditor (NA) balances hotel income and expenses for every 24‑hour period and serves as the Guest Service Agent during the overnight front desk shift. The NA ensures accurate reporting, supports system operations, and provides exceptional guest service.
Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver Sonesta Service in all guest interactions per the G.U.E.S.T. standards.
- Balance and audit room, food & beverage, telephone revenue, room tax charges, cashier reports, and guest house accounts for accuracy.
- Complete and transmit daily management/accounting reports with supporting documentation.
- Prepare General Manager daily, weekly, and month‑end reporting packs.
- Assist with complimentary breakfast service setup and supplies.
- Assist with hotel laundry processes.
- Serve as the security point of contact during shift.
- Resolve accounting discrepancies in coordination with the Operations Manager.
- Register guests, issue room keys, provide service information and answer phone calls.
- Accurately process all cash and credit card transactions, post charges, complete reports, prepare deposits, and secure assigned bank.
- Book guest reservations, process cancellations, revisions, and upsell rooms when possible.
- Follow the seasonal reservation strategy regarding room type and pricing.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other shifts and departments.
- Service the shoppe and pour, ensuring guests receive offered products and comply with local alcohol laws.
- Fulfill guest special requests and handle safe‑deposit boxes.
- Comply with federal, state and local health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of hotel experience preferred; extended‑stay industry background preferred.
- Reading and writing skills for compiling records and reservations.
- Fluent English speaking, reading and writing; other languages beneficial.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills including basic math, percentages, and variances.
- Problem‑solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to obtain Serv Safe certification; TIPS certification may be required.
- Will work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
