Columbus School for Girls seeks a Human Resources Manager who will serve as the primary individual responsible for the daily functions of Human Resources for the school. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will have oversight and administration of all human resource activities and policies.
Responsibilities- Supervise the Payroll Coordinator and oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate processing, documentation, and reporting of employee changes in collaboration with the Business Office.
- Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, collaborating with School leadership and department heads to assess staffing needs, required skills, and competencies.
- Create, maintain, and update job descriptions, employee contracts, and personnel files to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with institutional needs.
- Administer faculty and administrative employment contracts, including preparation, renewal, tracking, and documentation.
- Manage the background check, fingerprinting, and employment compliance processes in accordance with regulatory requirements and school policies.
- Support and administer the annual performance review process, including oversight of staff evaluation procedures and timelines.
- Initiate, implement, and continuously improve human resources processes and initiatives that support organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with School administration to develop, maintain, and update the Employee Handbook; recommend policy updates to ensure compliance, clarity, equity, and best practices.
- Manage the employee benefits program, including vendor relationships, employee communications, open enrollment, and benefits-related compliance reporting.
- Oversee retirement plan administration, including 403(b) filings, reporting, and compliance, in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Administer employee leave and accommodation programs, including FMLA, ADA, and long-term leaves of absence.
- Administer, respond to, and manage unemployment and workers’ compensation claims, including documentation, appeals, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and oversee required employment-related reporting; advise supervisors and administrators on HR-related legal and policy matters.
- Conduct and assist with workplace investigations; advise leadership on complex employee relations issues and collaborate with legal counsel as needed.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to supervisors and administrators on employee performance, conduct, accountability, grievance resolution, and performance improvement plans.
- Partner with School leadership to plan and support employee training, professional development, and wellness initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

- Bachelor’s degree required;
Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field - At least one year experience in Human Resources
- Experience working in K-12 schools, preferred
