Job DescriptionYou will perform key human resources work for our mission-driven agency. Your main sub-programs will be:
Pre-Hire processes and Orientation;
Recruiting (Sourcing, Screening, Interviewing); and Personnel Actions. You will also work with position descriptions, personnel records, and perform other generalist duties. We are a smaller state agency, which means you will have direct exposure to many programs and can grow your skills while having an immediate impact. We work together regularly and closely, and frequently interface with members of the OPD workforce across all levels of the organization.
Your duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform activities related to New Hire Onboarding and Orientation days: Manage communication with final candidates before, on, and after their first day;
Schedule and deliver orientation sessions;
Assist supervisors and managers;
Verify completion of, and manage retention of, required documents; - Prepare and post job postings for vacant positions, screen candidates, and facilitate interviews: Create job requisitions;
Screen candidate applications for qualifications;
Facilitate interviews;
Guide hiring panels and hiring managers. - Enter personnel actions and support hire/promotion processes: Create and submit electronic Personnel Action requests;
Compile required compliance paperwork;
Create Person of Interest profiles;
Prepare offer letters;
Manage pre-employment drug testing and background checks;
Answer questions from candidates and agency stakeholders;
Work with final candidates and employees to gather required signatures and forms. - Update and process agency position descriptions: Using required templates and standardized language, edit and create detailed written accounts of job duties, responsibilities, and required knowledge, skills and abilities;
Meet with HCM Senior Analysts and other stakeholders to ensure descriptions correctly reflect job classifications. - Perform other HCM generalist duties
:
Assist with Benefits and Payroll processing;
Assist leaders on special projects, assignments and reports;
Meet with assigned agency departments to share information and discuss personnel matters;
Give presentations and conduct trainings.
A person-first service mindset will serve you well in this position, as will skills in relationship-building, business process management, active listening, and written and verbal communication. You should also be comfortable doing independent, detailed, and sometimes repetitive work.
This HCM Analyst position is assigned to the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 10. Starting pay will be at Step 1 unless required by contract/legislation;
