Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead and scale the HR function for a growing infrastructure services organization. This role will oversee a team of five HR professionals and provide leadership across talent acquisition, employee relations, workforce planning, compliance, compensation, and organizational development.
The Director of HR will serve as a key member of the leadership team, ensuring HR strategies align with operational goals across field and corporate teams while fostering a high-performance, safety-driven culture.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership- Develop and execute HR strategies that support business growth, workforce scalability, and operational excellence
- Partner with executive leadership to drive organizational planning, succession strategy, and culture initiatives
- Lead and mentor a team of 5 HR professionals, ensuring accountability and continuous development
- Oversee recruiting strategy for both field-based and corporate roles
- Implement workforce planning initiatives to support project-based staffing needs
- Drive employer branding and retention strategies in competitive labor markets
- Lead employee relations strategy, including conflict resolution, investigations, and policy guidance
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and engagement across multi-site operations
- Support frontline leadership with coaching and performance management practices
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
- Oversee policies related to wage and hour regulations, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and other employment standards
- Partner with operations to support safety and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Lead compensation strategy, including benchmarking and incentive program design
- Oversee benefits administration and vendor relationships
- Drive performance management programs aligned with operational metrics
- Oversee HRIS systems, reporting, and data-driven decision-making
- Monitor key HR metrics including turnover, time-to-fill, engagement, and labor costs
- Develop scalable processes to support growth and potential acquisitions
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 8–12+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within infrastructure, construction, utilities, engineering, or field-service environments
- Experience managing multi-site or project-based workforce structures
- Proven ability to lead and develop HR teams
- Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance
- Experience in union or prevailing wage environments preferred
- SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification preferred
- Strategic thinker with operational execution skills
- Strong leadership presence and executive communication ability
- Data-driven decision maker
- Change management expertise
- High integrity and sound judgment
