HR Manager
The Ruhlin Company is seeking to hire a HR Manager. The opening is based out of Ruhlin's Columbus office and will report to the Director of HR.
Summary:
Serves as the primary HR presence within a specific region, supporting a range of HR functions including talent acquisition, benefits administration, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and policy administration. This role also supports the day-to-day regional office operations to ensure an efficient, organized, and professional work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support and help drive corporate HR initiatives, projects, processes, and employee-focused programs.
- Actively participate in HR and construction industry associations, meetings, networking events, and community engagement opportunities.
- Gather content for the company newsletter and other internal communications.
- Serve as a key resource for employees regarding benefit programs by providing guidance on enrollment options, eligibility, plan changes, and claim related questions, while ensuring a high level of customer service and timely resolution of issues.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation.
- Coordinate employee offboarding activities including exit interviews, collection of company-issued equipment and property, ensuring a professional and positive separation experience.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Compliance & Policy Administration:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the regional office and jobsites maintain all required labor law postings and updates.
- Promote and help maintain a workplace environment free from harassment, intimidation, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Support equal employment opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, and diversity and inclusion initiatives and objectives.
- Assist with the interpretation and consistent application of company policies, procedures and HR best practices.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Serve as a local HR resource for employees and managers by providing guidance, support, and timely follow up on workplace questions and concerns.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that reflects and reinforces the company's culture and values.
- Coordinate and support employee engagement initiatives and company-sponsored events.
- Assist with employee relations matters and conflict resolution, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Build strong working relationships with all employees.
- Support communication efforts that enhance employee morale, teamwork, and overall employee experience.
Office Management:
- Oversee the daily office operations to ensure an organized, efficient, professional, and welcoming work environment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for office-related needs including supplies, vendors, services, and facility related issues.
- Coordinate onboarding logistics including workspace setup, technology, equipment coordination, and office access.
- Contribute to a positive office culture and employee experience by helping create a welcoming and team-oriented environment.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
- Support regional hiring and onboarding efforts by partnering closely with corporate HR and hiring managers to ensure alignment with staffing needs and a positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate and facilitate onboarding-related activities to ensure a consistent and engaging new hire experience from pre-employment through onboarding and integration.
- Help promote the company's employment brand within the region through community involvement, networking, schools, and industry partnerships.
Essential
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field preferred.
- HR professional designation preferred (PHR and/or SHRM-CP).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in construction.
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment related laws and HR best practices.
- Experience supporting multiple HR functions including employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance and recruiting.
