Overview
Senior Data Engineer — Cloud & Data Architecture. We’re seeking a highly skilled data engineer to help architect, design, and maintain data platforms that power analytics and innovation. This role is a key contributor on an Enterprise Data Lake team—designing ingestion pipelines, enabling real-time and batch data processing, and ensuring the scalability, performance, and reliability of cloud-based systems. You will collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to bring data-driven insights to life, at the intersection of data architecture, software engineering, and cloud technologies.

Columbus, Ohio - On-site Requirements:
In-office two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) until September, then three days per week (Tuesday–Thursday). - Eligibility:
Candidates must be eligible for full-time employment in the U.S. (U.S. Citizenship or Green Card required).
- Design, build, and deploy scalable software systems and data infrastructure that support enterprise-wide analytics and decision-making.
- Develop and maintain ingestion pipelines and ETL processes for real-time and batch data flows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure the performance, integrity, and security of data systems through rigorous testing and code reviews.
- Implement cloud-based architectures leveraging Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and Databricks.
- Utilize strong programming skills in Python and other languages (C, C++, C#, Java) to develop, optimize, and maintain data services.
- Document systems, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve performance and cost efficiency.
- Explore emerging technologies and propose innovative approaches for modern data engineering.
- Work independently on complex initiatives while mentoring peers and contributing to a collaborative, Agile team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining technical solutions using languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Python.
- Proficiency with Azure data services including Data Lake, Data Factory, and Databricks.
- Hands-on experience implementing cloud security best practices (Active Directory, encryption, network security groups, etc.).
- Strong command of database design, data modeling, and both legacy and modern system architectures.
- Ability to design architectures that handle both real-time and batch data processing workloads.
- Experience with unit, integration, and performance testing to ensure system reliability and quality.
- Track record of cost optimization and managing cloud resources efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to work in Agile or Lean environments.
- Exceptional communication skills, technical leadership, and a collaborative mindset.
