Overview

Synota builds software for the energy industry, focused on the core commercial and industrial (C&I) power workflows that still run largely on paper contracts, spreadsheets, emails, and manual processes. These workflows sit at the center of real money, real risk, and real operational complexity.

We’re digitizing them at the contract level — with urgency driven by rapid load growth from AI and data centers, tighter risk tolerances, and the increasing cost of getting things wrong. Our next phase depends on embedding AI into these workflows carefully and correctly, so automation improves trust rather than breaking it.

• Own product for Synota, with a clear focus on AI/ML-driven workflow automation
• Translate messy, real-world customer workflows into simple, reliable product primitives
• Design systems that learn, adapt, and improve over time based on real usage and data
• Partner with engineering to balance AI-driven decisions with deterministic systems, ensuring data integrity and a clear source of truth
• Collaborate directly with customers to design human-centered workflows that reflect how teams actually work, including approvals, handoffs, overrides, and exception handling
• Own the correctness, reliability, and trustworthiness of automated workflows in production
• Make hard tradeoffs when speed, accuracy, and complexity collide

• 5+ years building software products, ideally in the energy sector (settlements, trading, operations, risk), with openness to adjacent, operationally complex domains
• Has led product before and wants to do it again in a hands-on, early-stage environment
• Comfortable working directly with customers and driving cross-functional alignment
• Strong conviction around AI and automation, with the judgment to know when not to use it
• Think in systems, not features — how data, decisions, and humans interact end to end
• Direct, clear communicator with high integrity and ownership mindset

This is a foundational role — the decisions you make here will compound for years. You’ll be accountable for how automation, intelligence, and trust are built into the product. If we get this right, it changes what Synota can become.
