The Ohio State University’s Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC) accelerates discovery for Ohio’s academic and commercial researchers with processing power and secure storage. OSC turns days of computation into minutes, creating a competitive advantage for Ohio at a fraction of the cost of alternatives, with expert consultation and secure storage. As part of the HPC Client Services team, you will help provide top-tier support to users of our High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems.

This role blends technical problem-solving and customer service to ensure smooth operation and efficient use of OSC’s HPC resources.

HPC Client Services Student Assistant

• Provide top-tier support to users of OSC HPC systems, combining technical problem-solving with customer service.
• Assist with issue triage, diagnosis, and resolution to ensure smooth operation of HPC resources.
• Engage with users to understand needs and communicate effective solutions and workarounds.

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Basic Linux/UNIX skills.
• Experience in scripting and programming (C/C++, Fortran or Python).
• Good written and communication skills.
• Courteous, helpful, professional attitude.
• Experience in high performance computing; more advanced Linux/UNIX, scripting and programming is a plus.

• This position offers employment throughout the year, including the summer months and academic breaks.
• Work schedule:
  
  Flexible during business hours 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
• Position is hybrid including both on-site and working remotely.
