Key Responsibilities- Systems Administration:
- Manage Windows/Linux operating systems hosting applications, databases, and services.
- Administer OS container technologies (Podman, Docker, Kubernetes) for application deployment.
- Configure and maintain packages, services, and system configurations.
- Implement system hardening and compliance standards.
- Utilize and monitor Solar Winds and Forti Gate security systems.
- Perform basic network configuration (IPv4, firewalls) for Systems.
- Monitor system health and performance; troubleshoot and remediate issues.
- Execute enterprise backup and recovery procedures.
- Manage disaster recovery strategies for Systems deployments.
- Utilize automation tools for build, deployment, configuration state, and event-driven remediation.
- Server Virtualization:
- Administer VMware environments including vCenter, VM templates, cloning, snapshots, and provisioning.
- Configure virtual hardware resources (data stores, distributed switches, CPU/memory/IO).
- Use VMware SDK and Power
CLI for automation and scripting.
- Software Development & Lifecycle:
- Apply best practices in software development for infrastructure automation.
- Maintain high‑quality, maintainable code with strong design principles.
- Utilize Git Hub and Git for source code management, branching, merging, and CI/CD.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum processes (daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming).
- Develop infrastructure‑as‑code solutions for configuration and deployment.
- 60 months combined work experience in evaluating effectiveness and risk of IT processes, recommending changes, researching solutions, and providing feedback; including 12 months experience in the primary technology. (Options: associate degree with 42 months experience, undergraduate degree with 36 months experience, or equivalent.)

Technical writing, oral & written communication, customer support, state agency policy, mathematics principles, IT principles for wireless data/voice/IP technology, software distribution, configuration management tools, network protocols, performance monitoring, wireless communications, backup & recovery. - Skill in:
Critical thinking, troubleshooting, systems analysis, operation analysis, complex problem solving, service orientation, judgment & decision making, assuring quality, business requirement specification. - Ability to:
Prepare meaningful reports, stay abreast of current wireless/IP technologies, define problems and draw conclusions, provide expert technical advice, guide management on critical IT issues.
- The MARCS Program operates 24/7/365. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday–Friday, but the entire staff is on call.
- The successful candidate may be required to carry a state cell phone.
