Position SummaryThe Operations Engineer will support and maintain 24/7 real‑time transaction processing platforms, ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of the system through monitoring, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
Primary Job Functions- Production Support: Provide Tier1 and Tier2 support for real‑time platforms, troubleshooting issues, coordinating with Tier3, development, and QA teams, and covering a 24/7 on‑call rotation for Scientific Games Lottery and Interactive production systems.
- New System Implementation: Build and test new systems, perform system performance analysis, support on‑site during implementations and overhauls, and coordinate integration testing.
- System Monitoring & Maintenance: Continuously monitor database health, server utilization, and transaction flow to ensure optimal uptime; install and patch Windows and Linux operating systems; manage SSL certificates.
- Automation & Scripting: Automate routine tasks using Bash scripting, Ansible, and Python to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to system performance, database optimization, transaction failures, or server anomalies; investigate root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Tier3, UAT testers, QA, and development teams to resolve platform issues, implement enhancements, and maintain clear technical documentation and status updates.
- Database Management: Perform routine Postgre
SQL maintenance tasks such as query optimization, backups, and troubleshoot database‑related issues. - Performance Tuning: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement tuning strategies to support scalability.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain concise troubleshooting guides, platform configurations, automation scripts, and prepare regular reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions; manage user access and SAML‑based SSO, including onboarding and revocation.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Bash scripting, Ansible, Ubuntu Linux administration, Postgre
SQL, and Python. Experience with VMWare, SAN, and Windows/Linux server architectures. - Support
Experience:
Minimum 2years in a Tier2 or equivalent technical support role; proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a fast‑paced environment. - Problem‑Solving: Analytical mindset, methodical approach to troubleshooting, experience with system logs and monitoring tools.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for documentation and user interaction, ability to explain complex concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Associate degree related to information technology (bachelor’s preferred).
- Familiarity with private/cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization tools (Podman, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with monitoring solutions (Zabbix, Prometheus, New Relic).
- Knowledge of Git, version control, and scripts in Power Shell or other languages.
- Relevant certifications (LPIC, Postgre
SQL, etc.).
$110,000 + 5% annual bonus.
