Technical Writer
The technical writer develops policies, plans, reports and technical training material for the electrical industry. They support the Training and Field Service departments by developing customized electrical maintenance programs, technical training manuals and presentations for customers.
Responsibilities- Generate innovative ideas for content and research products, services, standards and concepts to be documented, working independently and collaboratively.
- Create comprehensive technical programs and learning materials, including electrical maintenance plans, instructor‑led training materials, e‑learning modules and multimedia content.
- Work closely with subject‑matter experts, trainers and stakeholders to gather information and insights.
- Conduct regular reviews and evaluations to ensure content stays up‑to‑date and technically accurate.
- Interview clients to understand needs for plan development, safety and technical training, and documentation requirements.
- Produce high‑quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended clients.
- Compile technical information from multiple sources.
- Create Electrical Maintenance Program (EMP) reports based on input from site auditors.
- Write technical narratives, instructions, procedures or policies from multiple source data.
- Write and edit procedural documentation such as EMPs and training materials such as manuals and presentations.
- Assess clients’ needs for technical and procedural documentation and adjust tone and technical terms to meet requirements and expectations.
- May be required to travel approximately 10% of the time.

- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in technical writing.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing technical documentation in the electrical industry.
- Familiarity with e‑learning authoring tools and learning management systems.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, and professional printing/publishing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously, plan, prioritize, organize, and coordinate work with others.
- Project management skills: planning work, prioritizing, managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, using time well, and delivering results with tight deadlines.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and related documentation and present complex information in clear, concise text and pictures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint).
