About This Position

The primary responsibility of the Field Support Technician (FST) is to travel and repair proprietary equipment located at customer sites in their service area when dispatched by our customer‑facing Service Desk. Customers first contact the Service Desk, which manages incidents and, when needed, dispatches and remotely supports the FST for equipment repair. Equipment includes networking components, kiosks used by the public, staff and inmates, and vending machines (both mechanical and IT related).

Some parts are stored locally or in vehicle to allow for quick repairs. If needed, the Service Desk will ship equipment from corporate for the FST to install or repair.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • Excellent communication with customers and while working with the Service Desk, regional staff, and peers.
  • Diagnose, test, repair and replace kiosks, PCs, vending machines, networking equipment, and other IT equipment located within jails and prisons.
  • Work with the Service Desk team on preventative maintenance and walk‑throughs.
  • Use provided company car to travel to customer locations within the service area.
  • Update the Work Order (WO) module with travel time, notes on work performed, and WO resolution.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment and components as our product offerings evolve.
  • Travel to Saint Louis as needed for hands‑on training with equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, as well as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have T‑1 and analog circuit repair knowledge.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of multiple network disciplines and perform advanced network diagnostics to isolate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Must be able to develop good working relationships with facility personnel.
  • Service and maintain inmate phone systems at correctional facilities within an assigned region.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong team‑oriented business skill.
  • Professional attitude in dealing with customers.
