Overview

Nationwide Technology invites you to join our dynamic team as a Consultant, Technology Innovation Analyst. In this role you will help shape the future of our Small Commercial and Middle Market segments, turning big ideas into actionable, value‑driven solutions at the intersection of business strategy and technology execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, fundable initiatives.
  • Drive elaboration, estimation, and prioritization practices.
  • Influence investment decisions and product direction.
  • Solve meaningful challenges with innovative technology solutions.
  • Define technology innovations, maintain and evolve concepts aligned to our innovation portfolio.
  • Explore industry technology developments and identify innovation opportunities.
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Provide portfolio support and align technology strategy with business strategy.
  • Quantify benefits and develop business cases for transformation and innovation initiatives.
  • Evaluate and prioritize business requests, adjusting roadmaps and delivery sequencing as needed.
  • Execute medium to low complexity projects that recommend changes to business processes.
  • Plan engagements focused on building recommendations and business cases.
  • Facilitate large‑group cross‑functional sessions during discovery to define scope.
  • Maintain knowledge of business functions and initiate vendor relationships when appropriate.
  • Analyze business strategic plans, decompose them into outcomes, values, and capabilities.
  • Update roadmaps based on changes to business or technology strategy.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Key Qualifications
  • Strong skills in requirements definition, backlog management, and facilitation.
  • Ability to think strategically while executing tactically.
  • Proven experience working across business and IT boundaries.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Passion for innovation, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field (preferred).
  • Eight to ten years of experience delivering technology‑enabled business solutions and transformational change, preferably in insurance or financial services, or as a management consultant for a mid‑to‑top‑tier consulting firm.
  • Strong analytical skills, planning knowledge, and executive presence.
  • Experience developing roadmaps, business cases, and executing projects through completion.
  • Industry knowledge of insurance/financial services a plus.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to Technology Manager, Director or AVP or above.

Job Conditions

Hybrid schedule: work in one of the Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, Iowa, or Scottsdale, Arizona offices 2 days per week (Monday & Tuesday). This role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program. Some travel may be required. Overtime eligibility: exempt (not eligible). Normal office environment.
