Database Administration Specialist

What We Need YOU To Do

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest database admin spec in our Office of IT Services located at our Central Office in beautiful downtown Columbus, Ohio.

As a database admin spec, you will conduct performance tuning and configuration and tune DBMS systems running on a single platform. You will design and maintain various versions of data models and participate in the Change Review board. You will create Entity Relation Diagrams (ERD) and conduct data normalization and write platform specific code. You will perform data migrations and business process monitoring, report business intelligence, and monitor warehouse processes.

You will research product enhancement and capabilities and stay current with emerging technologies. You are going to work closely with clients and business analysts and software development staff to define and resolve information flow and content issues. You will also develop knowledge of principles, theories, practices, and techniques for project planning – and answer questions and present to peers and staff.

• Conduct performance tuning and configuration and tune DBMS systems running on single platforms.
• Design and maintain versions of data models.
• Participate in Change Review board.
• Create Entity Diagrams (ERD) and conduct data normalization, writing platform specific code.
• Perform data migrations and business process monitoring.
• Develop knowledge of principles, theories, practices, and techniques for project planning.

• 60 months combined work experience in any combination of performing performance tuning and configuration, creating data models, and providing technical Tier II database support including 12 months in the primary technology specified by the agency.
• OR completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 42 months combined work experience in the aforementioned areas, including 12 months in the primary technology specified by the agency.
• OR completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 36 months combined work experience in the aforementioned areas, including 12 months in the primary technology specified by the agency.
• OR equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
