API Architect: IV; Lead

We're seeking an experienced API Standards & Compliance Lead to drive enterprise-wide API governance, security, and compliance initiatives. This is a strategic leadership role focused on defining API standards, automating governance processes, and ensuring APIs are secure, scalable, and aligned with industry and regulatory requirements.

• Establish and enforce API governance standards across the enterprise.
• Lead API review processes, approvals, and compliance programs.
• Develop API design guidelines, governance frameworks, and policy documentation.
• Drive API lifecycle governance, onboarding, cataloging, and developer portal standards.
• Partner with Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure regulatory alignment.
• Define and measure governance KPIs, compliance metrics, and adoption rates.
• Leverage Apigee X, analytics, and automation tools to improve governance effectiveness.
• Support internal teams through training, best practices, and governance enablement.

• 10+ years of IT experience with strong API architecture, development, or governance expertise.
• 5+ years leading API governance, standards, or platform initiatives at enterprise scale.
• Deep knowledge of REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, GraphQL, and API lifecycle management.
• Experience with API security standards including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and identity management.
• Familiarity with Apigee, Kong, Mule Soft, AWS API Gateway, or Azure API Management.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical and business teams.
• Experience with in financial services or highly regulated environments is a plus.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Apigee X.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as Open Banking, PSD2, HIPAA, GDPR, NIST, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
• Background in Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD, and policy automation.
• API portal, developer experience, and analytics expertise.
