Security Engineer

Our client, a leader in utilities, is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to join their team in Columbus, OH!

** This is a 1-year W2 contract with benefits**

As the Senior Security Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and support of enterprise web application and network security solutions. You'll be responsible for securing internet-facing applications through F5 Distributed Cloud WAF, API Security, Bot Management, DDoS Protection, and Palo Alto network security technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and optimize F5 Distributed Cloud (XC) WAF, including policy deployment, tuning, and application onboarding
• Configure and support API Protection, Bot Defense, DDoS Mitigation, Geolocation Policies, Rate Limiting, and CAPTCHA challenges
• Protect applications against OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, authentication attacks, API abuse, SQL Injection, XSS, CSRF, SSRF, credential stuffing, and session hijacking
• Administer and support Palo Alto NGFW, Prisma Access, VPNs, SSL decryption, NAT, and network segmentation
• Develop security automation using Python, REST APIs, Terraform, and Git while supporting Dev Sec Ops  and CI/CD initiatives

Desired Skills:

• Strong experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAF), preferably F5 Distributed Cloud (XC)
• Hands-on experience with Bot Management, API Security, DDoS Protection, and CDN technologies
• Experience administering Palo Alto firewalls and enterprise network security technologies
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and modern web application attack vectors
• Experience with Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, containers, and Infrastructure as Code
• Proficiency with Terraform, Python, REST APIs, and Git
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, OWASP, GIAC, F5, or Palo Alto certifications are highly preferred
