Overview
The Analytics Analyst will build, maintain, and analyze large-scale datasets to support pricing models and strategic decision-making for property and casualty insurance products. The role emphasizes data engineering, dataset design, and analytical modeling to bridge raw insurance data with actionable pricing insights. The position can be filled at multiple seniority levels (Analytics Analyst I, II, or III) depending on qualifications and experience.
The posted compensation range shown applies to the Analytics Analyst II level; specifics may be discussed during the interview process. This is a hybrid role with in-office work required several days per week, with eligibility to work in either Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, West Virginia, within a commuting distance.
- Meet with internal analytics consultants or business partners to understand analytics needs and propose solutions.
- Identify, collect, and integrate data from available internal and external sources to address business problems.
- Create reports or data views to support business partners.
- Build predictive models (linear and non-linear regression, decision trees, etc.) of consumer behavior or other relevant target variables.
- Develop new solutions or enhance existing tools to simulate and monitor the impact of business decisions.
- Prioritize tasks, organize work, and communicate effectively; work independently with minimal supervision.
- Provide clear documentation as part of governance processes.
- Collaborate with the Data Services unit to maximize value of existing solutions and guide incorporation of new elements.
- Perform ad hoc analyses or reporting to support business partners and improve data extraction and related processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- B.A. or B.S. in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, computer science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Other majors may be acceptable depending on mathematical background.
- Minimum of four years of experience in insurance or banking in a technical role (actuarial, marketing research, etc.) is preferred.
- Experience working with large data sets using SQL and/or SAS; proficiency in regression analyses using SAS, R, or other statistical software is preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance terminology and rate making is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication and analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Experience with data visualization software (Tableau) preferred.
Hybrid work model. Reside within commuting distance to either Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, West Virginia.
