OverviewLarge‑scale language models are evolving from simple conversational tools into systems capable of interpreting historical texts, analyzing belief systems, and supporting comparative and cultural understanding. As a Religion Specialist, you will help create high‑quality training data that improves AI’s religious literacy, educational support, and cultural context accuracy.
Responsibilities- Engage the model with religious or historical scenarios, analytical and interpretive questions, and cultural context tasks.
- Evaluate accuracy, neutrality, and logical consistency of model responses.
- Document failure modes, capturing reproducible error traces, and provide structured feedback to refine prompts, evaluation frameworks, and reasoning quality.
- Identify oversimplifications, misinterpretations of texts, or inaccurate historical or cultural information.
- Background in religious studies, theology, history, anthropology, or an adjacent humanities field (degree preferred but not required).
- Knowledge of world religions, theology, religious history, philosophy of religion, comparative religion, sacred texts, and cultural or anthropological perspectives on belief systems.
- Strong metacognitive communication skills, articulating reasoning and interpretive steps (“showing your work”).
- Entry‑level candidates with relevant coursework, independent study, teaching experience, or significant personal interest in religion and cultural studies are encouraged.
Pay range: $6 to $65 per hour, with the exact rate determined after evaluating experience, expertise, and geographic location. Final offer may vary within the stated range. This is a freelance/contract role; you will supply a secure computer and high‑speed internet. Company‑sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
