Service & Test Technician
The Service & Test Technician diagnoses, tests, repairs, and builds custom PC systems and consumer electronics. This role balances technical hardware testing, and software troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Diagnostics: Perform hardware stress testing, component benchmarking, thermal checks, and system diagnostics on custom builds and customer repair drop-offs.
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Identify and fix hardware/software issues across laptops, custom desktop PCs, power supplies, motherboards, GPUs, and peripherals.
- System Assembly & Custom Builds: Build custom PC rigs to specification, route cabling cleanly, update BIOS, and install standard OS environments.
- Customer Interaction: Explain technical diagnostics clear to non-technical customers at the service counter and recommend necessary upgrades or repairs.
- Documentation & Asset Management: Maintain detailed service logs, track open repair tickets, and ensure returned components and inventory are processed accurately.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
1+ years of experience in computer repair, technical support, or PC building.
Strong working knowledge of modern PC hardware components (Intel/AMD architectures, NVIDIA/AMD GPUs, RAM, NVMe storage, motherboards).
Hands-on experience with diagnostic utilities (e.g., Mem Test, Prime
95, HWInfo, furmark) and OS installation (Windows/Linux).Active CompTIA A+ certification or vendor-specific repair certifications (Apple, Dell, Lenovo) are strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs (computers, monitors, server towers).
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $18.00
