Lead system design and planning of enterprise data center server infrastructure and virtual server environments
Architect scalable, high-availability physical server solutions and virtualization platforms
Develop system designs and technical specifications
Manage large-scale infrastructure projects through implementation
Coordinate cross-functional teams and work with external vendors
Oversee server hardware lifecycle management, virtualization technologies, disaster recovery strategies, and security and regulatory compliance
Design, plan, install, configure, operate, develop, modify, maintain, and repair virtualized systems, software, and applications
Install and configure physical servers, operating systems, software applications, and tools
Provide pre-production engineering schematics, flowcharts, and infrastructure drawings
Analyze performance, scalability, and resource availability to minimize service interruptions
Develop and complete performance tuning strategies for mission-critical virtualization systems
Analyze, test, and troubleshoot assigned systems
Maintain confidentiality of information accessed within College systems and IT areas
Serve on after-hours On-Call/On-Duty rotations
Provide Tier III support and assist operational teams with in-depth troubleshooting
Schedule system downtime for hardware and software changes under CSCC change management procedures
Document solutions and standard operating procedures
Ensure compliance with college policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Document technical requirements for new services or enhancements
Advise on technology decisions and provide implementation estimates
Support assigned environments and ensure performance goals are met
Identify reusable service components or standard market products
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure implementations meet design requirements
Foster a safe environment of respect and inclusion
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- At least Six (6) years of progressively responsible technical experience managing virtualization environments
- Knowledge of server and desktop virtualization using VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft Hyper-V
- Knowledge of enterprise SAN systems
- Knowledge of networking as it relates to virtualization
- Knowledge of server hardware monitoring and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
- Knowledge of server and desktop operating systems and management
- Knowledge of system monitoring and logging
- Skills in verbal and written communication, project work management, operating job equipment, planning, scheduling, organizing work, typing, job software programs, and technical skills
- Ability to analyze technical problems, troubleshoot, draw appropriate conclusions, work independently, maintain confidentiality, maintain accurate records, coordinate multiple activities, and apply technical and analytical applications
- Ability to perform light manual labor for extended periods
- State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s)
- An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate
Demonstrates expertise in managing virtualization environments, including VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards. Proficient in system design, project management, and performance tuning for high-availability server solutions.
