ASL Interpreter

This is an in-person role for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter based in the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan Area. The ASL Interpreter will provide professional interpretation services in various settings to bridge communication between hearing and Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. Responsibilities include interpreting conversations, facilitating effective communication, and maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. The ASL Interpreter will work closely with clients and staff, ensuring accuracy in conveying meaning and intent during conversations.

• Fluent proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English, with demonstrated interpreting skills

Certification in ASL interpretation (such as RID certification) or equivalent relevant training required

• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
• Experience with consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation in various professional and community settings
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills to facilitate effective collaboration and understanding
• Ability to adapt to different communication styles and work professionally with diverse population
• Flexibility to work and travel within the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area
