Aspen Careers is partnering with a well-regarded litigation and family law practice in Columbus to add an experienced Domestic Relations Paralegal
. This role is a high hiring priority due to upcoming trial demands and supports sophisticated, higher-asset domestic matters within a busy litigation environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated paralegal who knows domestic work and family law well, enjoys responsibility, and wants to be trusted with meaningful case involvement—not just administrative tasks.
Why You Should Apply- Work on higher-asset domestic relations matters
, not high-volume cases - Handle discovery from start to finish, including follow-up and review
- Draft pleadings and assist with temporary orders and trial preparation
- Prepare subpoenas, start balance sheets, and review financial documentation
- Collaborate closely with the lead attorney on strategy and case progression
- Communicate with clients regarding case status when attorneys are unavailable
- Attend hearings when appropriate based on the case and your experience
- Enjoy predictable hours with minimal overtime
- 3+ years of domestic relations experience preferred (more or less considered depending on skill level)
- Strong understanding of:
- Domestic discovery processes
- Financial statements, bank records, and asset-related issues
- Experience drafting pleadings and affidavits in domestic cases
- Organized, proactive, and able to work independently
- Comfortable managing deadlines and following cases proactively
- Professional client communication skills (without providing legal advice)
- Able to pass a BCI or FBI criminal background check
- Litigation-focused practice with a strong reputation
- Handles both employment litigation (predominantly plaintiff-side) and sophisticated family law matters
- Known for quality work, preparation, and professionalism
- In-office team environment with positive attorney–staff relationships
- Regular social activities; paralegals are included but never required to attend
