Job Description & How to Apply Below

Goldman Braunstein Stahler Kenter, LLP (“GBSK”) is a Columbus‑based law firm devoted exclusively to representing landowners in various types of litigation, including eminent domain, as well as transactional practice involving the purchase and sale of real estate, and wind, solar, and cell tower leases. We represent landowners in both negotiations and trials, and we are known for achieving results that significantly exceed initial offers made by government entities and private companies seeking to use or acquire our clients’ property.

We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to provide essential litigation and administrative support in our practice. This role will work closely with our attorneys to ensure efficient case progression and smooth office operations.

Position Overview

The Paralegal will support eminent domain and real-property litigation matters from intake through resolution, handling calendaring, discovery organization, preparing initial drafts of pleadings, filing pleadings, reviewing court dockets, mailing, and billing. The position also includes key administrative responsibilities to maintain firm efficiency in a small‑team environment. Ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with litigation paralegal experience who thrives in a collaborative boutique law firm setting.

Responsibilities

Litigation & Case Support
  • Organize and manage case files, including setting up new matters in the firm's file management system
  • Prepare and organize discovery documents
  • Draft routine correspondence, basic pleadings, and discovery requests/responses under attorney supervision
  • Conduct preliminary document review, including appraisals, valuation materials, and public records
  • Calendar court deadlines, hearing dates, and case milestones; monitor dockets and track developments
  • Assist with deposition and trial preparation (e.g., exhibit organization, transcript review, witness coordination)
Client & Administrative Support
  • Handle routine client communications (e.g., status updates, document requests) under attorney direction
  • Coordinate with opposing counsel on scheduling and procedural matters
  • Prepare billing entries, disbursement detail sheets, and assist with client invoicing
  • Process incoming mail, review for urgency, and distribute appropriately
  • Assist in marketing efforts, including mail merges and distribution of client newsletters or updates via email and regular mail
  • Order office supplies, maintain office organization, and handle other administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, or equivalent paralegal certification/experience
  • 3+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in litigation (eminent domain, real estate, or civil litigation is a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with legal case management software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a small firm
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive client and financial information
  • Experience in eminent domain or real‑property law
  • Familiarity with Ohio court procedures and e‑filing systems
  • Prior experience with billing, calendaring, and basic administrative tasks in a law firm
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Hands‑on involvement in meaningful, high‑impact cases for landowners
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators in a supportive, low‑turnover environment
  • Professional development support and a collaborative team atmosphere
