The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Attorney Services Counsel in the Office of Attorney Services.
What You'll Do- Program Management:
Administer the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program, including overseeing mentorship registration, partner assignments, program completion, and CLE credit allocation. Create and implement program policies and curriculum. Compile and report participation and quality control data to the Court, the Court’s Commission on Professionalism, and external stakeholders. - Commission Support:
Serve as staff liaison to the Court’s Commission on Professionalism, including organizing Commission meetings, activities, and seminars and presenting on behalf of the Commission. - Relationship Building and Advocacy:
Build relationships with judicial organizations, bar associations, and law schools to promote professionalism. Prepare and submit an annual budget and proposals for supplemental funding to the Court. - Legal and Policy Review:
Conduct legal research and advise on matters of professionalism, attorney education and regulation, and other matters concerning and supporting a strong Ohio bar. Support professionalism efforts in Ohio courts, bar associations, Judicial College, and law schools. - Program Development:
Assist in developing and presenting educational materials for law schools, new lawyer training, and continuing education programs. - Attorney Services Support:
Oversee Lawyer Referral Services and Legal Services Plans registration process under Gov. Bar R. XVI. Assist with pro hac vice registration and admission by motion processes. - Bar Exam Support:
Assist in administering the biannual bar examination.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications & ExperienceJuris Doctor from an accredited law school required with admittance to the bar required within the first six months of employment. Upon admittance to the bar, and at all times during employment with the Court, must be an attorney properly admitted to the practice of law, and be active and in good standing. Typically requires zero to two years of directly related legal experience.

Demonstrates knowledge of legal principles, procedures, and practices; applies critical thinking and sound judgment to interpret laws, analyze legal issues, and ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations. - Submission Review Knowledge (Advanced):
Interprets complex issues with limited guidance utilizing policy and rules requirements. Advises on policy intent; drafts clarifications and contributes to policy updates. - Legal Research:
Proficiency in analyzing statutes, case law, and regulations. - Communication
Skills:
Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively either verbally or in writing. - Analytical Thinking:
Ability to assess complex issues logically. - Problem Solving:
Ability to troubleshoot, think critically, and solve issues independently.
This position operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers and phones. This is a largely stationary role; however, the employee may also be required to move about the office and building. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to communicate and exchange information.
Travel RequirementsThe ability to work nonstandard hours and to travel on Court business is required, including overnight travel. Valid driver's license is required.
