A well-established Columbus law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney to join its growing defense practice. The ideal candidate will have experience handling general insurance defense matters and defending political subdivisions, including civil rights litigation under §1983. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-impact cases representing municipalities, public entities, and insurers.

• Handle all phases of litigation from case inception through trial and appeal
• Represent insurers and public entities in general liability and governmental defense matters
• Defend political subdivisions and officials in civil rights and constitutional claims (including §1983 actions)
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and briefs
• Manage discovery, depositions, and motion practice
• Appear in court for hearings, conferences, and trials
• Collaborate with clients to develop effective defense strategies

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active Ohio bar admission
• 1+ years of litigation experience (insurance defense and/or government defense preferred)
• Experience with §1983 civil rights defense strongly preferred
• Exposure to insurance coverage analysis is a plus, but not required
• Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and meet deadlines

• The annual salary for this position is between $80,000-$130,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
