Position Summary:
The Staff Attorney drafts decisions, entries, and orders stemming from various legal pleadings, trials, motions, and objections. Research legal issues (case law and statutes) to assist with current cases before the Court. Tracks and reviews pleadings and service of parties. Acts as a liaison for the Judge to court personnel, local bar, attorneys and pro se litigants in the practice and procedure of the court.
Conducts status conferences as requested. Assists the Judge in determining jurisdictional issues between states for purpose of hearings, trials, or motion hearings. This position is considered judges personal staff.
- Juris Doctor degree and an active law license.
- Familiar with statutes, civil rules, and courtroom procedures in domestic relations and juvenile areas; strong computer skills; two years’ Domestic Relations or Juvenile Court experience.
- Must submit a cover letter and writing sample 4-10 pages long.
