Purchasing Specialist – Industrial Wholesale
$65,000 - $80,000 per year
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Columbus, Ohio (onsite 5 days a week)

- The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for maintaining inventory levels and ensuring product availability to support customer demand and sales objectives.
- This role serves as a key liaison between vendors, sales, customer service, and warehouse teams to manage purchasing activities, resolve supply issues, and maintain accurate inventory and supplier data.
- Create and manage purchase orders, including pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock based on min/max planning requirements.
- Set up and maintain part numbers, supplier records, and inventory parameters within the system.
- Follow up with vendors on order status, pricing updates, and delivery commitments.
- Expedite backorders and work with vendors to improve shipment timelines.
- Partner with customer service to provide updates on product availability and backordered items.
- Coordinate with sales teams on new product setup and expected arrival dates.
- Work closely with warehouse and receiving teams on inventory issues, bin changes, new products, and vendor returns.
- Update purchasing systems with vendor confirmations, shipment information, and pricing changes.
- Process inventory adjustments and return-to-vendor transactions.
- Track, document, and elevate supplier performance issues.
- Support vendor scorecard reporting and quarterly performance reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support purchasing and inventory processes.
- Identify and resolve purchasing, inventory, and supplier-related issues in a timely manner.
- 2-5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, or a related field preferred
- Ability to use Outlook and Excel fluently
- Ability to problem solve issues and provide solutions
- Excellent project management skills
- Extreme attention to detail
