Material Analyst
The Material Analyst performs intermediate-level expediting to ensure on-time delivery of materials and services that support projects and ongoing operations. This role manages supplier commitments, tracks shipments end-to-end, supports recovery plans for late orders, and partners closely with cross-functional teams to minimize schedule impacts and maintain accurate material availability.
Responsibilities include:
- Own expediting activities for assigned suppliers and commodities, securing firm promise dates and detailed shipment plans.
- Identify delivery and schedule risks early and drive recovery actions, including pull-ins, split shipments, alternate sources, and premium freight approvals when appropriate.
- Coordinate with supplier production planning and shipping teams to align material readiness with site need dates and project schedules.
- Liaise with carriers, brokers, and warehouses to ensure proper routing, documentation, and scheduled delivery appointments.
- Resolve intermediate issues such as quality holds, partial shipments, customs or documentation errors, and escalate promptly when needed.
- Support claims and chargebacks related to late deliveries or premium freight, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-through.
- Synchronize dates and delivery commitments with Buyers, Planners, Site Materials personnel, and Project Managers to maintain a single source of truth in ERP/MRP systems.
- Support outages and turnarounds by providing daily line-of-balance updates and managing hotlists for critical materials.
- Maintain accurate purchase order status information and produce weekly supplier on-time-delivery (OTD) and past-due reports.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying and supporting process enhancements, improving lead-time accuracy, refining confirmation cadences, and providing inputs for supplier scorecards.
- Use ERP/MRP and shipment documentation, including bills of lading and advance ship notices, to monitor and control material flows.
- Apply basic data analysis using Excel or business intelligence tools to track performance and highlight issues.
Essential skills include:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, logistics, or a related field; or an associate degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; or four (4) years of expediting, materials, or logistics experience.
- Hands-on experience in expediting materials and managing supplier commitments.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems for tracking purchase orders, deliveries, and material requirements.
- Familiarity with shipment documentation such as bills of lading (BOL), advance ship notices (ASN), and standard shipping terms.
- Experience in logistics coordination, including carriers, brokers, warehouses, and routing requirements.
- Ability to manage inventory and parts inventory in a structured environment.
- Strong follow-through and stakeholder communication skills to ensure alignment across functions.
- Basic data analysis skills using Excel or business intelligence tools.
- Ability to identify risks, prioritize issues, and drive timely resolution in a fast-paced environment.
Additional skills and qualifications include:
- Experience working in a supply chain or logistics function supporting complex projects or operations.
- Background in supplier logistics management, including coordination with production planning and shipping teams.
- Exposure to claims and chargeback processes related to late deliveries or premium freight.
- Experience supporting outages or turnarounds with daily line-of-balance and hotlist management.
- Familiarity with supplier performance tracking, including on-time-delivery metrics and supplier scorecards.
- Comfort working with cross-functional teams such as Buyers, Planners, Site Materials personnel, and Project Managers.
Work environment:
This role operates onsite at a downtown headquarters facility, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position is based in an office environment and involves frequent use of ERP/MRP systems, spreadsheets, and business intelligence tools to manage purchase orders, shipments, and inventory data. The work requires regular interaction with internal teams and external suppliers, carriers, and logistics partners, with a focus on timely communication and coordination.

Pay and benefits:
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
